6TH Grade Concert Band

This is the introduction to middle and high school instrumental music programs. Concert Band is the foundation training class for symphonic and jazz ensembles. Students apply knowledge of reading and writing music notation while learning to play traditional American Band literature on Brass, Woodwind, or Percussion instruments. Here is the exciting first step to being "in the Band"!

"The Roaring Lions" Pep Band

Our newest and most eclectic ensemble: consisting of engine room percussion, combo style rhythm section of drum set, electric bass and keyboards, rock'n'roll guitars, Memphis style horns, complete with r&b vocals...coming soon to jazz up a venue near you!

7th-12th Steel Drums

Our Most popular instrumental program, students learn the history of the newest acoustic instrument, the Trinidad Steel Pan! UCS steel drum ensembles are comprised of soprano, alto, tenor, and bass voiced instruments fashioned from 55 gallon oil drums, hand fired and hammered into various melodic pitches, upon which students perform traditional folk songs and popular melodies in calypso style. With the recent introduction of the "Engine Room" incorporating cocktail drums, and Latin percussion, the UCS Steel Band is the most unique ensemble in the region. Don't miss the opportunity to hear our students "play de pan mon!"

As an extracurricular activity every member commits to higher academic standards as well as after school rehearsals to insure the best performance. The most visible of our performing ensembles, the "Lions of Steel" are a perennial favorite at Disney!
