Brief Description of Executive Committee Positions

President

The President leads the Lion’s Pride, setting the vision for the future. He/she leads all ‘general’ meetings as well as Executive Board Meetings. General responsibilities include calling routine meetings, budget planning and goal setting. The president must be able to ‘see the big picture’ and how each decision will impact the organization as a whole. He/she must also have excellent communication skills and ability for mild public speaking.

Vice-President

The Vice-President’s (VP) main role is to assist the president with his/her duties. General responsibilities include organization and general oversight of events and committees under the Lion’s Pride. He/she should be able to negotiate with administrators, teachers and parents to find creative, mutually beneficial solutions.

Treasurer

The Treasurer is responsible for general management of Lion’s Pride money. Specific responsibilities include: monthly reconciliation of Lion’s Pride accounts including reports given to administration, basic accounting and bill payment, budget planning. The Treasurer works closely with UCS’CFO. He/she is the custodian of other people’s money and should appreciate the value of a paper trail.

Secretary

The Secretary’s primary responsibility is communication and documentation. He/she accomplishes this task through minute keeping at meetings, communication via email/Renweb and agenda setting. The Secretary should have computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word, good listening skills and value organization.
