Strength and Conditioning Are Now Being Offered at Unity

Unity Christian School (UCS) recently added a new member to their athletic program.  Jeff Holloway is the new strength and conditioning coordinator at UCS.  He holds numerous credentials including a master’s degree from North Georgia College and State University in health and physical education as well as Level 1 certification from both USA Weightlifting and CrossFit.  He has coached at the high school and college levels as well as served as an assistant coach for Team Georgia Weightlifting.  Coach Holloway will be using a combination of the Olympic-style lifts and the training concepts of CrossFit to train the athletes at UCS.  He stated, “Bang for your buck, there is not a better way to train strength and explosiveness than using the Olympic lifts.”  Along with the lifts and the use of CrossFit, Coach Holloway mentioned that he believes nutrition and speed development are crucial to the success of any athletic program, especially one at the high school level.   He also stated, “I do not train football players. I train athletes. The football team is the group with whom I will work the most, but being fast, strong, and explosive is something every athlete needs.  I believe pairing the Olympic lifts with CrossFit will produce a superior athlete, no matter what sport they play.”  Coach Holloway is passionate about helping develop athletes and considers it a huge responsibility and blessing to be able to work with the students at UCS.  He stated that his goals for the start of this new training program are to develop the athletes to the best of their potential and to equip them with the skills necessary to excel in their specific sporting events.  Coach Holloway looks forward to training the athletes and seeing their progress and future successes.
