UCS Sings in ACSI Choral Festival
Last Friday, Unity Christian School’s Sixth Grade Chorus along with the Unity Christian School’s Boys’ Chorus traveled to Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy to attend the ACSI Choral Festival. Each chorus performed for a panel of judges and for a large audience consisting of choruses from other schools around the southeast.
The Boys’ Chorus, consisting of ten young men from fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, sang a wonderfully arranged traditional piece in three part harmony. The judge stated, “From the very beginning of the unison section, these young men commanded my attention”. This chorus received a rating of ‘Excellent’.
The Sixth Grade Chorus, consisting of 22 singers, sang a traditional spiritual entitled Little David, Play on Your Harp, and a Latin/English composition in three part harmony entitled Gloria Deo. The judges were complementary regarding this chorus’ correct singing technique, as well as their beautiful tone. The Sixth Grade Chorus rated ‘Superior’. Students at UCS are taught from a very early age that music is created by God, and that we are designed to respond to it, understand it, and perform it skillfully.
